In twenty years in Pagosa, this was my first bad experience with a company, I would never them again.
Just a comment on others who felt these folks were not "woman-friendly." I am an older woman whose husband is often gone. Kelly not only was respectful and kind in his service, but actually let me "help" during his troubleshooting, so I would understand the issues. I am an engineer, so have some background in these topics, and he was never condescending or dismissive. His assistants, both at the shop and in my home, were similar in their treatment of me and my problem. In addition, the shop is clean and well-kept, which in my experience also demonstrates a well-kept business overall. Lucky to find them!
My heater was not fixed, the next day a reputable company came out and repaired it properly. The technician was shown the switches that Area Best removed and stated that the switches were good and did not need to be replaced.
My furnace was intermittent and the lights indicated it was a high limit device. I have used Jerry's gas in the past, but unfortunately he passed away. A handyman suggested I might try Area Best Heating.
We had Kelly install a central air conditioning unit. He and his team did an excellent job, getting it done in just one day and under the cost that he said it would be. His employees were very polite and diligent. I highly recommend Kelly for HVAC projects.
I called Kelly and asked how he could possibly charge me that much, when my heater was not fixed and the his repairman was here less than an hour. Kelly was not sympathetic or customer service friendly, he stated since his repairman did not have both switches with him (which he said he did), and that he had to drive 5 miles back to their shop,I was billed for two trips.
I called Kelly who sent one of his repairman out. The repairman was at my home for less than an hour, replaced two switches (told they were $25.00each, and that he had both with him) and gave me a bill for $234.00. I was shocked at the price and asked how it could be that high, the repairman stated Kelly completed the bill.
Kelly did a great job installing an AC unit in our home. He delivered on the install and quoted price. His crew was friendly and showed up on time to get the work done. I will definitely use Area Best in the future.
We purchased our home about five years ago, and the furnace finally gave up the ghost - when temperatures were dropping below zero and the Christmas and New Year's holidays were in full swing. Fortunately, a friend recommended Kelly Miller of Area Best HVAC. Kelly recognized my desperate situation and showed up immediately. He made a valiant effort to reclaim the old furnace, but there were just too many problems, so I decided to replace it. The next day he had a fine new furnace available and installed it rapidly, so I had a warm home to begin the new year!
Kelly is a great guy. He has helped with installations at more than one property. He replaced duct work at a home that increased the efficiency of the heating system at about half what I had estimated iti to cost. Right now he is installing an infrared heating system in a work shop area for me. He is ethical, hard working and easy to communicate with.
