One of the most beautiful campgrounds I have stayed at. Sure the 15 miles of maintained dirt road was a little bumpy and dusty but the end result was worth it. This little gem is located about 20 miles out of Pagosa Springs and is isolated yet it has water scattered through out the grounds and a few sites with water and sewer hook ups. I stayed mid week as I always try to do and at the end of a loop where the next site was about 50 yards away and not occupied which was where I got water and dumped when I left. Deer roamed freely through the grounds along with wild turkeys while cows fed in the open fields. There is so much hiking and fishing around here you can stay for a week and never do the same thing twice. A lot of the sites are located in the wooded area but I like the wide open area with room to stretch out and park my 31 foot toyhauler.
Nice quiet USFS campground set in a beautiful forest, some sites near a lovely creek and some have spectacular views of the South San Juan range. Water spigots are scattered about but for some you'll need a "thief" connector. Toilets are clean pit toilets but no showers are available. The interior roads are tight in spots but all but the very largest rigs should be ok with careful driving. Sites 2-4 are water/sewer sites the rest are dry.
The dump station for the area was closed in 2016 due to underground leaks, unlikely it will be repaired so the nearest dump station will be the Conoco/Giant station at 30 N Pagosa Blvd, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147 (right on US 160 across from the Shell station.) If unoccupied and you ask nicely the campground host may allow you to use sites 2, 3, or 4 to dump/fill, these have water/sewer hookups otherwise it is 23 miles to the Conoco.
Wonderful campground north of pagosa springs. We visited in July, and practically had the upper level to ourselves. Some very nice views, and the camp sites are spread out. We would come back.
Beautiful campground in the mountains above lovely Pagosa Springs. Terrific hiking, Piedra River, gorgeous campsites and super friendly hosts!
